Meet Dr. Nolf

Dr. Randy Nolf, periodontist, has been a dental specialist in the treatment of gum diseases and implant dentistry for the past 21 years. He's a pioneer in the treatment of periodontal disease based on a patient's risk profile and has recently received patents for the periodontal disease risk calculator. The periodontal risk calculator was the feature story on the cover of the May 2002 Journal of the American Dental Association. The periodontal risk calculator was also the subject of studies published in May 2003, Journal of the ADA and August 2003 Journal of Clinical Periodontal Research

 
Dr. Randy Nolf

Dr. Nolf has been a clinical instructor, training resident doctors in the graduate Periodontology program at Temple University Dental School. He is passionate about the subject of dental wellness and disease control through risk management. Dr. Nolf trained at the world acclaimed Prosthodontics Intermedica, Institute for Facial Esthetics in Fort Washington , Pa and continues as a member of the Research and Education Division at Prosthodontics Intermedica.

He is always happy to help people with questions about their dental health. In addition his pioneer work in disease management he is a leading edge practitioner in the use of the new Teeth-in-an hour along with his busy practice of traditional dental implant procedures.

Dr. Nolf is a life-long resident of the Poconos. After graduation from Lehighton High School in 1971 he attended University of Miami, University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Temple University in 1975. Then it was on to Temple Dental School where he had a special interest in advanced restorative procedures, was president of the Stomatognathic Honor Society, member of the Periodontal Honor Society and graduated in 1979. He practiced general dentistry from 1979 to 1981 while attending postdoctoral training in the Graduate Periodontology program at Temple Dental School, graduating in 1981.

With the advent of osteointegrated implants, Dr. Nolf traveled to Sweden in 1986 to train and receive certification at the Branemark Clinic in Goteborg. Dr. Nolf was one of the earliest certified periodontists in the U.S. from the Branemark Clinic, the birthplace of osteointegrated implants.

Dr. Nolf shared his skills with post-doctoral residents in the Temple University Graduate Periodontology program in Philadelphia as an associate clinical professor from 1994 to 1998.

He is a past president of the Monroe County Dental Society and a past president of the Panther Valley Dental Society. A member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Northeastern Society of Periodontists, the American Dental Association and the Pennsylvania Dental Association.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Nolf has a particular interest in software development and the impact it can have on the future practice of dentistry and medicine. A pioneer in the management of periodontal disease based on risk factors and holds a U.S. patent for computer software to manage disease based upon a patient's unique risk factors. The patent is shared with Dr. John Martin of State College, Pa and all rights are assigned to Dental Medicine International, Inc. where he is a founder and serving on the corporate Board of Directors.

Dr. Nolf lives in Monroe County with his wife and 2 daughters.
