Monroe County Dental Society Self study is scheduled by arrangement with course conductor. This continuing education course is a two part experience for licensed dental hygienists. A written text with test questions will cover six ( 6 ) diverse aspects of periodontal therapy: · Supportive Periodontal Therapy All of the teaching material have been reviewed and refereed by the American Academy of Periodontology. The Monroe County Dental Society has been granted permission by the Academy to reproduce and utilize these position papers in this teaching application. The course participants will be expected to read all the materials provided and the respond to a written examination, based on that information. A grade of 75% or higher will be considered acceptable for passing the course. All incorrect answers will be reviewed with each participant to elevate their understanding of the material. The second phase of the course will be conducted on-site at an approved, instruction location. The on-site, full day experience will take place in a dental office that is limited to the practice of periodontics. Each instructor will be expected to attend a training seminar to fully understand the scope of the material and the procedural aspects of the course. At the on-site locations, each course attendee will be provided the opportunity to observe the daily procedures required to treat, maintain and support active periodontal patients. It is the objective of this on-site phase to provide the following points of interest: · Recordkeeping Optional Observational Objectives: This course will be made available for all licensed Pennsylvania Hygienists. No refunds will be granted. However, a one year rescheduling will be made available for all who register but unable to attend. Each paid hygienist will have one year, from the time of application, to complete the course in its entirety. Partial credit will not be granted. A letter of course completion will be presented to each participant upon completion and filed with the course conductor’s office. List of course conductors.
